Help with Moodle, accounts and learning systems

This page explains how to get help with logging in, accessing your courses and using LSICT’s online learning systems.

Quick routes

  • Problems signing in to Moodle or email.
  • Issues accessing modules, resources or assessments.
  • Questions about system requirements or basic setup.

Select a topic from the left menu to view the details.

Getting started with LSICT systems

LSICT uses a small set of core systems to deliver teaching and manage your studies. Most students will use:

  • The virtual learning environment (Moodle) for modules, resources and activities.
  • Institutional email for official communication about your programme.
  • Other approved tools and platforms used on specific modules where relevant.

When you enrol, you will receive account details and basic instructions on how to sign in, check your modules and keep your contact information up to date.

Accounts and login

Your LSICT account is used to sign in to Moodle and other integrated systems. Please keep your login details secure and do not share them with anyone.

First-time login

  • Check your welcome message for your username and initial password or activation link.
  • Follow the instructions to set your own password and confirm your contact details.
  • Once this is complete, you can sign in to Moodle from the main LSICT website.

Password and access issues

  • Use the password reset option on the sign-in page if you cannot remember your password.
  • Check that you are using the correct username format (for example, the address provided in your offer letter).
  • If you still cannot sign in after using the reset option, contact the technical support team.

When reporting a login issue, please include your full name, programme and a brief description of the problem so that we can locate your account more quickly.

Accessing courses and resources

Once you have successfully signed in, your dashboard should display the modules and learning spaces you are enrolled on.

Finding your modules

  • Use the dashboard or “My courses” area to see your current modules.
  • Check the start date of each module; content may appear shortly before teaching begins.
  • If a module you expect is missing, contact your programme team or technical support.

Learning materials and activities

  • Module pages normally include weekly sections, lecture materials and assessment guidance.
  • Some activities (such as quizzes or assignments) have release and closing dates.
  • If a file or link does not open, try another browser or device before reporting the issue.

Where modules use additional tools (for example, video conferencing, code repositories or specialist software), your module leader will explain how to access and use these.

Troubleshooting and contact routes

If you experience technical difficulties, it can help to try a few simple checks before contacting the support team.

Basic troubleshooting steps

  • Refresh the page or sign out and sign in again.
  • Try a different browser or device if possible.
  • Check your internet connection and disable any browser extensions that may interfere with login.
  • Confirm that you are using the correct web address for the LSICT Moodle site.

When to contact technical support

  • You cannot sign in even after using the password reset function.
  • Modules that should be visible on your account do not appear.
  • Pages repeatedly fail to load or display error messages.
  • You believe there is a technical problem with an assessment submission area.

Contact details for technical support, including email and any local helpdesk arrangements, will be made available through your programme information and the main LSICT website.

When you contact the team, please include your name, programme, the system you are using, and a short description of what you were trying to do when the problem occurred.
